Japanese model company Kaiyodo (KAIYODO) is set to release new additions to its "MEGA SOFVi" series of large soft vinyl collectibles, featuring the classic animated film "Mobile Police Patlabor 2 the Movie." The new products are the "Ingram Reactive Armor Unit 1 / Unit 2 / Unit 3," with a suggested retail price of 44,000 JPY per unit, scheduled for release in August 2024!

"Mobile Police Patlabor 2 the Movie" is an animated film produced in 1993 by Production I.G, Bandai Visual, and Tohokushinsha, directed by Japanese animation master Mamoru Oshii, serving as a sequel to "Mobile Police Patlabor." The story takes place three years after the events of the first film, when the Yokohama Bay Bridge is destroyed by a missile, causing great unrest in Tokyo. However, the Self-Defense Forces hastily conclude the case by declaring the fighter jet involved as missing. The Metropolitan Police Department, realizing there might be hidden motives, launches an investigation, leading to a confrontation with the Self-Defense Forces. As the conflict between the two sides escalates, civil war in Tokyo becomes imminent. To protect the peace within Tokyo, Goto once again assembles the members of Section 2, deploying the PATLABOR robots to try and prevent the situation from worsening.

This product line is sculpted by prototype master Kazuya Kira, known for his work on various Neon Genesis Evangelion projects. It features the AV-98 Ingram Reactive Armor Units 1, 2, and 3, which belong to the Metropolitan Police Department in the film. The product boasts an impressive size of 57 cm, maintaining the exquisite detail characteristic of the MEGA SOFVi series even at this large scale.
