The popular die-cast toy series "METAL BUILD", released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., has announced its latest product from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED ASTRAY", the "Gundam Astray Blue Frame (Provisional)", will be sold as a CLUB TAMASHII MEMBERS exclusive product on PREMIUM BANDAI. It will be available for pre-order only to SKY rank members and above, and will be produced entirely on a made-to-order basis.
The Gundam Astray series consists of mobile suits developed by Orb's state-owned enterprise "Morgenroete Inc." by illicitly utilizing the Atlantic Federation's MS development technology during their joint development, thereby enhancing Orb's defense capabilities. However, due to the failure in analyzing the "Phase Shift Armor" technology, the armor was instead made from foamed metal, and its surface area was significantly reduced to maintain mobility. Although it lost most of its defensive power, its superior maneuverability compensated for this drawback. Among them, the Gold Frame, which possesses a golden frame, was developed with special specifications, allowing it to use GAT series armaments manufactured by the Alliance.
Although product information for the newly released "Gundam Astray Blue Frame (Provisional)" has not yet been announced, the revealed product preview images are identical to the prototype exhibited last year. Overall, it appears to be an improved version of the old model released in 2016, with revamped armor designs adding more details. The lower body also adopts the same new design as the 'Gundam Astray RED DRAGONICS'. However, armaments such as the "M68 Catapult 500mm Recoilless Rifle", "8-tube Short-Range Guided Missile Launcher", and "Shield" appear to have the same exterior as the old version.
