BANDAI SPIRITS Company's HOBBY Division in Japan, which offers the most diverse range of 1/144 scale Gunpla in the "HG (High Grade)" series, today announced the latest product from the anime "Gundam Build Metaverse", the "HG 1/144 Gundam Amazing Barbatos Lupus", scheduled for release on August 3, 2024.
The Gundam Amazing Barbatos Lupus is a new Gunpla created by the third-generation Kawaguchi Meijin, "Tatsuya Yuuki". This mobile suit is a modification of the Gundam Barbatos Lupus, the protagonist machine from "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans". While its overall appearance seems to simply be painted in Meijin's favorite red, it actually incorporates many practical elements from the original series. The bullet-shaped large mace not only serves as a melee weapon but can also fire live ammunition and beams. The "Tail Blade", which only appeared on the enhanced Barbatos Lupus Rex in the original series, is also integrated into the design. The original backpack's shape is inspired by the massive Mobile Armor "Hashmal", which dropped Tail Blade materials. After releasing the machine's limitations, the backpack-mounted claws can be equipped and utilized on both hands.
The "HG 1/144 Gundam Amazing Barbatos Lupus" is based on the metallic color version bundled with the ending theme CD limited edition. All parts have been changed to standard plastic molding colors, but the design and styling are otherwise identical.
The entire model utilizes multi-color molded parts and numerous new parts to faithfully recreate Tatsuya Yuuki's original design and weapon mechanisms from the show. The distinctive large mace can not only be pulled out and rotated to recreate its firing mode but can also be combined with backpack parts to form a beam weapon. The included single core wire allows for the recreation of the Tail Blade's deployed state. The massive claws can also be attached to both arms to recreate the limited release state, and the white three-claw parts can expand and rotate.
