Japan's Bandai Spirits Co., Ltd.'s "Special Memorize" series, which recreates various props from childhood anime, will launch a new product – the "Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch E-Pitch Microphone" – to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the classic anime "Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch". Following the previous "Aqua-Pitch" transformation device, this new item will be released with a suggested retail price of 5,280 JPY per unit, scheduled for October 2024!
"Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch" is a Japanese manga series written by Michiko Yokote and illustrated by Pink Hanamori, which was adapted into an anime by Actas and Synergy SP in 2003. The story features seven mermaids from the seven seas who fight enemies with their singing and dancing. Their dazzling designs and the catchy songs, specially translated and dubbed for its broadcast in Taiwan, are surely cherished childhood memories for many 90s and millennial toy enthusiasts!
This product faithfully recreates the microphones used by the three mermaid princesses who first appeared in the series – Lucia Nanami, Hanon Hosho, and Rina Toin – to amplify their singing power after transformation. The central part of each microphone features a pearl in the respective character's signature color: pink, aqua, and emerald green. The microphone's sparkling appearance is reproduced with a pearlescent coating combined with translucent aqua-blue parts!
The biggest highlight of this product is that pressing the button on the microphone plays classic Japanese original songs from "Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch." Each microphone includes one solo song and one group song corresponding to its character, allowing all toy enthusiasts to start a live concert with the three mermaid princesses using their sparkling voices!
The songs included in each model are:
Lucia Nanami: "Koi wa Nani?" (What is Love?) / "Super Love Song"
Hanon Hosho: "Ever Blue" / "Ai no Ondo" (Temperature of Love)
Rina Toin: "Star Jewel" / "Kibou no Kaneoto ~Love Goes On~" (Sound of Hope ~Love Goes On~)
