SUPER7, an American toy brand dedicated to releasing 80s and 90s pop culture-themed toys, announced the ninth wave of its "ReAction" 3.75-inch articulated action figure carded series yesterday (20th), featuring the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" theme. The suggested retail price is US$20 per figure, and they are now available for pre-order on the SUPER7 official website!
"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" are comic characters created by cartoonists Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. Early on, both were inspired by Marvel's renowned cartoonist Jack Kirby, leading them to meet and live together, establishing "Mirage Studio" in their garage. During a doodle session, they coincidentally drew ninja-like turtle characters. After repeated brainstorming and discussion, they developed and created the independent "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" comic series. In the early comics, the Ninja Turtles' bandanas were all red, and their individual identities could only be distinguished by their weapons. The colorful eye masks and distinct personalities were features added later with the release of toys. Through the release of toys and animation, these four mutant turtles gradually grew into household-name New York heroes!
This product pays homage to the original independent black-and-white "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" comic, reinterpreting the "ReAction" series 3.75-inch Ninja Turtle figures in gray and white tones. It features the iconic four turtles: "Leonardo," "Raphael," "Michelangelo," and "Donatello." The card art recreates the black-and-white comics drawn by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird back then. The figures themselves restore the comic's original setting, where we cannot distinguish the four turtles by their sculpt alone. The only difference on the figures is the position of the knot on their eye masks; the four characters are differentiated by their respective weapons: katana, sai, nunchaku, and bo staff. In addition to their weapons, each turtle will also come with a silver-gray textured pizza slice, allowing the four turtle heroes to continue enjoying their favorite food in the comic style!
