BANDAISPIRITS Company's HOBBY Division in Japan has announced today that the latest product from the theatrical anime film "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM," the "Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam," will be released on September 21, 2024, as part of the "SD Gundam CROSS SILHOUETTE" series, which allows for free transformation between high and low head proportions.
The protagonist Kira Yamato's new mobile suit, the ZGMF/A-262B Strike Freedom Gundam Type II, is a new machine developed using the latest technology from the Orb Union, half a year before the main story of "FREEDOM," after the "Strike Freedom Gundam" was shot down following a failed terrorist attempt to steal it. While its external appearance has not changed significantly, its armaments, apart from the High-Energy Beam Rifle, have all been updated. Notably, a powerful "Convergent Heavy Nuclear Beam Cannon" is hidden in its forehead, but due to its excessive destructive power and high energy consumption, it cannot be used in this form.
After combining with the new enhanced equipment "Proud Defender," piloted by Lacus Clyne, to form the ZGMF/A-262PD-P Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam, it can disperse nanoparticles via brainwave transmission and unleash a wide-range, powerful high-voltage current to destroy enemy mobile suits. Simultaneously, the most powerful weapon hidden in its head, the "Convergent Heavy Nuclear Beam Cannon," can also be utilized. Furthermore, to counter enemy mobile suits with strong beam resistance, the unit is equipped with a sharp physical sword, the "Futsunomitama."
The "SDCS Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam" utilizes gold molded parts to create two frame types: the high-head (CS) frame with more articulation, and the low-head (SD) frame with less articulation. Its eyes can also be customized with interchangeable parts to display either with or without pupils, allowing for free customization according to personal preference. The "Proud Defender" mounted on its back can also be separated to recreate its flight form.
The armaments include two "High-Energy Beam Rifles" that recreate their linked mechanism, two "Beam Sabers," and the newly added physical anti-ship sword "Futsunomitama." The railguns on both hips and the forehead are equipped with movable mechanisms, allowing them to deploy and reveal the internal "Convergent Heavy Nuclear Beam Cannon" firing port. Additionally, the connection port on the left arm can accommodate the beam shield effect parts included with the separately sold "HG 1/144 Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam."
