Japan's official Gunpla flagship store, GUNDAM BASE, today announced the latest limited-edition product from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED", the "MGSD Freedom Gundam [Clear Color]", which is scheduled to be sold in stores in May 2024.
'MGSD' is a new line that incorporates the technologies cultivated in the 'MASTER GRADE' Gunpla series into the SD Gundam specifications. With a parts count, separation, and color-coding technology comparable to MG Gunpla, it creates the highest level of articulation, mechanisms, and high-density detailed sculpting in SD Gundam product history, filling a long-standing void for a new generation of high-end SD Gundam Gunpla products.
Once completed, the 'MGSD Freedom Gundam' kit stands approximately 115mm tall and features a fully articulated internal frame. The entire model boasts high-density, multi-layered detailed sculpting, completely overturning the past impression of SD Gundam products being full of hollow parts and requiring paint touch-ups. It further introduces astonishing articulation designs previously unseen in such products, including multi-axis articulation, pull-out joints, extendable mechanisms, and interlocking armor mechanisms cultivated from the MG series, applied to the neck, shoulders, torso, and legs. This allows the short-proportioned SD machine to achieve cool kneeling poses and various agile combat stances. The base of the back wings and each individual wing also feature telescopic mechanisms, preventing parts interference and allowing for the powerful 'Full Burst Mode' to be recreated.
This clear color limited edition not only retains the "REAL METALLIC GLOSSINJECTION" molding technology, which provides a more metallic luster, and the "REFLECTION CUT" technology, which enhances the reflective effect of clear parts, but also changes the dark gray molding color of the entire frame to metallic gray. Red, white, yellow, and blue parts are also molded in colored clear plastic, allowing the internal frame details to be significantly visible through the light. Furthermore, the clear armor makes it more convenient for special customization techniques such as lighting installations or glow-in-the-dark paints, presenting a style distinct from regular Gunpla.
