The HOBBY Division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd. recently announced the eleventh product in its 1/144 scale plastic model 'Option Parts Set Gunpla' series, the "Smoothbore Gun for Gundam Barbatos," scheduled for release in August 2024.
The Smoothbore Gun for Gundam Barbatos originates from the 2015 anime series "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans." It is a solid-projectile weapon used by the protagonist Mikazuki Augus's mobile suit, the Gundam Barbatos. Normally, it can be folded and suspended on the backpack. When in use, it can be deployed into a firing configuration via its connecting mechanical arm, utilizing a 300mm smoothbore gun and a 60mm machine gun to suppress enemy mobile suits.
The "Option Parts Set Gunpla 11 (for Gundam Barbatos Smoothbore Gun)" is essentially identical to the "HGIBO 1/144 MS Option Set 1 & CGS Mobile Worker" released in 2015. The set includes the Smoothbore Gun for Gundam Barbatos, a Mobile Worker, a Graze Shield, a Schwalbe Graze Long Rifle, and a Short Barrel Rifle, among other armaments, which can be used for customization with separately sold 1/144 scale Gunpla models.
