The popular soft vinyl toy "MOVIE MONSTER" series, released by Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd., recently announced the latest product from the movie "Shin Godzilla: ORTHO," the "Godzilla (2016) Awakening ORTHO ver.," scheduled for release in October 2024. This product will be exclusively sold at the official Godzilla store, "GODZILLA STORE."
The Godzilla that appeared in the movie "Shin Godzilla" was jointly designed by director Hideaki Anno, designer Mahiro Maeda, and sculptor Takayuki Takeya, among others. It is a colossal "perfect organism" capable of freely and rapidly evolving and devolving, quickly adapting to its environment, undergoing several evolutions within hours of landing in Japan. Godzilla possesses a "thermonuclear energy conversion bio-organ" within its body, seemingly able to generate immense energy and release radioactive substances without needing to eat. The heat ray it emits from its mouth instantly incinerated Tokyo's bustling streets, completely exceeding the current scope of human knowledge.
The "MOVIE MONSTER Godzilla (2016) Awakening ORTHO ver." is a modified version based on the previously released standard edition. Standing at 18 cm tall, it recreates Godzilla's awakened pose with its mouth wide open, ready to unleash its atomic breath. Special matte grayscale paints are used for spraying and dry brushing to minimize light reflection on the surface, faithfully reproducing the grayscale texture seen in the black and white film version.
