Following the "RX-78-2 Gundam Ver.2.0", the 'RG (Real Grade)' Gunpla series, released by Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS HOBBY Division, which incorporates exterior armor, internal frames, interlocking armor, and new technologies into 1/144 scale, has once again announced that its dedicated expansion set, the "RX-78-2 Gundam Ver.2.0 Weapon Set", is currently under development, with a release date yet to be determined.
The 'RG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam Ver.2.0' features the same semi-monocoque fuselage structure as the PGU version, assembled layer by layer from the movable frame and truss to the exterior armor. Furthermore, precise part separation and color-coding techniques provide distinct color differentiation and rich layering for different sections of the parts, creating an ultra-high-precision internal frame structure. The abdomen houses the core block, which transforms from the Core Fighter, and through newly developed auxiliary joint mechanisms and locking mechanisms, the Gundam maintains flexible articulation while simultaneously enhancing joint retention strength.
While the main kit includes basic armaments such as the Beam Saber, Beam Rifle, Shield, and Hyper Bazooka, this "RX-78-2 Gundam Ver.2.0 Weapon Set" supplements it with armaments like the Hyper Hammer, Beam Javelin, Super Napalm, another Hyper Bazooka, and a Beam Saber with a curved blade. Notably, the Hyper Hammer's chain parts are produced using integrated injection molding, allowing them to be freely bent and used directly after being cut from the runner, while also possessing a certain degree of retention strength.
