Leading American toy manufacturer Hasbro's "Plasma" series, under the Ghostbusters brand, has launched a product based on the classic 1984 Ghostbusters film—the "Ecto-1 (1984) Ghostbusters Car." The suggested retail price is US$59.99, and it is now available for order on the Hasbro Pulse official website!
The 1984 Ghostbusters film will celebrate its 40th anniversary this year. Even if you haven't seen the movie, you're likely familiar with the protagonists' ghost-catching uniforms and this white and red "Ghostbusters Car"! The original Ecto-1, also known as the Ectomobile, was modified from a real-life 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor. The inspiration behind it was to transform it "from an ambulance to a hearse, and then back from a hearse to an ambulance," which led to its iconic white and red paint scheme. Coupled with the various ghost-catching equipment on its roof, it has become a major icon of cool vehicles in popular culture!
This time, Hasbro has faithfully recreated the classic white, red, and silver paint scheme of the Ghostbusters car from the film, reproducing devices such as the directional antenna, air conditioning unit, storage box, and radar dome on the roof. The "Ecto-1 NEW YORK" license plates on the front and rear are also perfectly replicated! Regarding the vehicle's mechanisms, in addition to movable wheels, all four side doors and the rear trunk door can be opened. Furthermore, a stretcher can slide out from the rear trunk, meticulously reproducing all the details on the car!
