The robot-themed action figure series 『ROBOT魂 ver. A.N.I.M.E.』, released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, today officially announced the latest product from《Mobile Suit Z Gundam》, the 「Gundam Mk-II (AEUG Specifications)」, slated for release in October 2024.
In Universal Century 0087, the "Titans", an elite radical faction of the Earth Federation Forces advocating Earth supremacy, sought to assert their authority over the pro-space faction "AEUG". They excluded engineers with Zeon backgrounds and appointed Franklin Bidan, protagonist Kamille Bidan's father, to lead the development. This led to the creation of the 「RX-178 Gundam Mk-II」, a successor to the iconic "RX-78 Gundam" mobile suit that turned the tide of the One Year War. While possessing an extremely similar external appearance, the entire unit was constructed using the latest contemporary technology. Notably, the implementation of a "movable frame" significantly enhanced its mobility, expandability, and ease of maintenance. After the AEUG successfully seized two Gundam Mk-II units, it became protagonist Kamille Bidan's primary mobile suit in the early stages.
The 「ROBOT魂 Gundam Mk-II (AEUG Specifications) ver. A.N.I.M.E.」 is based on the previously released Titans specifications, utilizing new colors to faithfully reproduce the characteristic white armor of the AEUG specifications. The overall design is also crafted based on anime setting drawings, recreated as an articulated figure approximately 13 cm tall, featuring refined armor surfaces and elegant lines that showcase Kunio Okawara's distinctive style.
The articulated sections, including the neck, chest, abdomen, and limbs, all feature flexible joint designs. Notably, the pull-out mechanism of the shoulder joints allows the entire arm to extend significantly backward, and the chest armor on both sides can retract towards the center of the body in conjunction with the shoulder joint's movement, enabling more dynamic and bold poses. The knee joints also incorporate an extendable mechanism linked to the internal frame, maintaining natural leg lines even when bent, resulting in excellent high-kneeling pose capabilities.
Accessories include a rich array of armaments such as the Beam Rifle, Shield, Hyper Bazooka, Head Vulcan Pod System, Beam Saber, spare energy packs, and spare bazooka magazines. Also included are abundant effect parts to recreate states like bazooka firing, beam rifle shooting, beam saber blades, and thruster propulsion. The shield features a movable mechanism that allows it to transform into a short shield, and its inner surface can store energy packs.
