BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division in Japan has officially announced today the detailed information for the latest product from the new anime series "Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance", the "HG 1/144 Zaku II F-Type Solari's Machine (Requiem for Vengeance)", part of the 1/144 scale Gunpla "HG (High Grade)" series, which boasts the most diverse range of mobile suits. It is scheduled for release in October 2024.
The new anime series "Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance", produced using Unreal Engine 5, will be exclusively streamed on Netflix, consisting of 6 episodes (30 minutes each). This work is a collaboration between Sunrise and SAFEHOUSE, utilizing realistic 3DCG animation to depict powerful war scenes. The story is set in the Universal Century of the original "Mobile Suit Gundam", portraying a brand new original story that takes place on the European front during the One Year War.
In this battle, the Zeon forces initially gained an advantage with their new weapon, the "Mobile Suit", successfully penetrating Earth's battlefields. However, due to the Earth Federation Forces' abundant resources and their development of a counter-weapon, the "Gundam", the war gradually became a stalemate. Eleven months after the war began, one of the bases occupied by the Zeon forces on the Eastern European front was recaptured by the Federation. To reclaim it, the Zeon side dispatched a mixed battalion, which included the "Red Wolves" mobile suit squad, led by protagonist Solari, who had just descended from space.
The main mobile suits for "Requiem for Vengeance" were designed by Kimitoshi Yamane, who previously handled mechanical designs for "Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team". He reinterpreted Kunio Okawara's original MS-06 Zaku drafts, resulting in a more realistic and combat-functional style. This time, Bandai has utilized more precise injection-molded parts compared to previous products, extensively reproducing the protagonist's mobile suit designed by Kimitoshi Yamane. From the armor surface lines to the internal structure of the shield, every detail is meticulously sculpted. Furthermore, the included decals can be used to recreate the distinctive wolf claw markings on the feet, the unit insignia, and battle damage grime.
In addition to the flexible articulation design for each joint, the segmented skirt armor design maintains aesthetic integrity while expanding the range of motion for the thighs. The head part features an internal monocular camera position adjustment mechanism, and the leg power pipes incorporate a new movable axis design, reducing interference and allowing linked rotation when the knee joint bends. Weapon accessories include the Zaku Machine Gun and Heat Hawk, both featuring high-density detail sculpting.
