The "V.F.G." series of Macross mecha girl plastic models, released by AOSHIMA's plastic model brand ACKS, recently announced that the latest product from "Macross Delta," the "VF-31A Kairos Reina Prowler," is scheduled for release in October 2024.
"Variable Fighter Girl" is a plastic model product that combines the transformable fighter jets from the "Macross" series with an articulated girl body, the "VF Girl." The fighter jet itself can reproduce the three transformation stages from the anime. The "VF Girl" body features an excellent articulated design and can be posed in various ways with interchangeable expressions, hands, and accessories. Both can be enjoyed individually, and through an original transformation mechanism, they can combine into a cool and cute mecha girl form. This third release from "Macross Delta" features Reina Prowler, one of the members of the tactical music unit "Walküre," and the mass-produced main aircraft of the Chaos Ragna Branch's α, β, and γ squadrons, the "VF-31A Kairos."
Reina's "VF Girl" articulated body features an original model design with a tight-fitting combat suit. It newly reproduces her petite physique and signature colors. Some color blocks and lines are pre-painted. The interchangeable face parts include two pre-printed faces and three faces that require water-slide decals for customization, allowing for a significant reproduction of the original design's colors even with a straight build. The body features flexible articulated joints and can be combined with accessories such as a microphone, headphones, a skull-shaped megaphone, a drone-shaped display stand, a skull robot, and a chibi Walküre, allowing for poses in everyday, concert, and combat scenarios.
The approximately 20 cm long "VF-31A Kairos" deviates from its original light gray color scheme. It is presented in a green color scheme, inspired by Reina's original combat suit. It also includes original aircraft markings, adding richer details to the fuselage beyond the armor lines. By swapping parts, it can reproduce the three forms: FIGHTER, GERWALK, and BATTROID. It can also merge with Reina's body to form an original mecha girl configuration. Furthermore, it can be combined with the separately sold "Makina Nakajima" to recreate a romantic two-person ride state.
