Japanese toy company ANIPLEX, which has released numerous "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" character products, will once again launch an articulated figure from the same series in March 2025, under its popular "BUZZmod." action figure line: "Genya Shinazugawa." The estimated price is 12,000 JPY.
Created by Japanese manga artist "Koyoharu Gotouge," the super popular manga series "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" (鬼滅の刃), which began serialization in 2016, has not seen its popularity wane despite the manga concluding in May 2020. After its anime adaptation, many viewers continue to tune in regularly. The latest fourth season of the anime, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Training Arc," officially premiered on May 12, 2024.
In the original story, Genya Shinazugawa is a classmate of the protagonist Tanjiro. As the younger brother of Sanemi Shinazugawa, the "Wind Hashira," Genya's strength is not on par with his brother's, and he cannot use any Breathing Techniques. However, he possesses unique biting and digestive organs, allowing him to consume demons' bodies, gain their abilities, and use Blood Demon Arts, earning him the moniker "Demon Eater." Initially, his relationship with Tanjiro and others was strained, but it later softened after being moved by their sibling bond. During the final battle, he fought alongside the Stone Hashira and others against Upper Rank One, "Kokushibo." Although they successfully defeated Kokushibo, Genya himself was critically wounded and near death, passing away in his brother's arms after they reconciled their differences in his final moments.
This ANIPLEX BUZZmod. Genya Shinazugawa figure stands approximately 15.5 cm tall, faithfully recreating his appearance at a 1/12 scale. All of his clothing is made with fabric, and the full body's articulated joints and poseability maintain the series' consistent high standard. For accessories, there are five interchangeable facial expressions, including his normal face and a face depicting him activating a Blood Demon Art after consuming a demon. There are also 6 interchangeable hand parts for both left and right. His weapons include his Nichirin Blade and a Nanban Gun (shotgun), along with effect parts for when the gun is firing, and a special accessory for kneeling on a cloth mat.
