Issued by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., the "METAL ROBOT Damashii" series, which combines metallic-textured paintwork and an alloy frame, today announced the latest product from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM", the "Proud Defender & Effect Parts Set", scheduled for release in February 2025.
The MDE262S Proud Defender is a new mobile weapon wing jointly designed by protagonist Kira Yamato and the "COMPASS" development department. Originally intended for the Rising Freedom Gundam, the unit was damaged before completion, so it was repurposed as an enhanced equipment for the "Strike Freedom Gundam Type II". Due to its urgent deployment in actual combat, it transitioned from an unmanned drone to manual operation, piloted by heroine Lacus Clyne. When operating independently, this unit has no offensive capabilities. It must combine with the Strike Freedom Gundam Type II to form the "Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam" to unleash its true value. In addition to wielding the physical sword "Futsunomitama", each wing can disperse nanoparticles via brainwave transmission and release a wide-range, powerful high-voltage current to destroy enemy mobile suits. Simultaneously, the strongest weapon hidden in its head, the "Convergent Heavy Nuclear Beam Cannon", can also be utilized.
The "METAL ROBOT Damashii Proud Defender & Effect Parts Set" product includes the Proud Defender main unit, the physical sword "Futsunomitama", and effect parts. The Proud Defender's main movable frame and the movable shafts at the base of each wing are made of alloy material, ensuring strength and a satisfying weight when handled. The golden parts on the inner side of the wings are reproduced with luxurious electroplating, while the exterior armor is finished with semi-gloss paint and printed with original model markings, enhancing the unit's substantial feel and its realism as a weapon.
By combining it with the separately sold "METAL ROBOT Damashii Strike Freedom Gundam Type II" main unit, it can transform into the Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam. It can be equipped with "Futsunomitama" to recreate combat poses from the show, and the ultimate weapon hidden in its head, the "Convergent Heavy Nuclear Beam Cannon", can be reproduced in its deployed state by replacing antenna parts. Furthermore, in addition to recreating the armor deployment state of the back wings, 8 sets of lightning effects are included to reproduce the wide-range discharge pose!
