BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd.'s Collectors Division, TAMASHII NATIONS, from Japan, has announced a limited-edition product for the annual San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) under its "S.H.MonsterArts" series, which combines exquisite monster sculpting with outstanding articulation technology. This is the "Godzilla (1989) Exclusive Edition" action figure, with a suggested retail price of 9,900 JPY, scheduled for release on July 1, 2024!
The 1989 film 《Godzilla vs. Biollante》 (ゴジラvsビオランテ) continues the story from the 1984 film 《Godzilla》. The Japanese government researches Godzilla cells to create "Anti-Nuclear Bacteria" (ANB). Dr. Genichiro Shiragami, a participant in the project, injects his deceased daughter's cells into a rose to preserve her soul after she was killed in a terrorist attack. These cells later mix with Godzilla cells, giving birth to the plant monster Biollante...
This "Godzilla (1989) Exclusive Edition" action figure uses the "Godzilla (1989)" sculpted by popular monster sculptor Yuji Sakai, released in 2021, as its base. It retains the original version's rough skin texture, Godzilla's fierce facial expression, and the organic feel of its eyes and sharp teeth. Made from transparent PVC and painted to recreate the glowing effect of Godzilla's dorsal fins when he uses his atomic breath during his battle with Biollante in the film, it showcases a powerful presence distinct from the regular edition!
