Japan's Kotobukiya (KOTOBUKIYA) toy company has announced the latest product in its "Mega Man X" model kit series, the "Axl" 1/12 scale model kit. The suggested retail price is 8,800 JPY, and it is scheduled for release in November 2024!
The third protagonist of the Mega Man X series, Axl (アクセル), is a new-generation Reploid prototype whose creator is unknown. He has no memory of his origins and no official records, with a noticeable scar on his forehead. Originally a member of the vigilante group Red Alert, he left the organization, met Zero, and became a member of the Maverick Hunters. He can use his Axl Bullet "Copy Shot" to replicate enemy DNA chips and activate "Summon" or "Transform" abilities.
After a long 20-year wait, the "Axl" 1/12 scale model kit is finally making its debut! Based on the game's design drafts, it utilizes CAD design to thoroughly pursue accurate proportions, achieving excellent articulation and precise sculpting, granting a high degree of poseability. Multi-color molded parts reproduce the various colors of the armor, allowing for a high level of completion even with a straight build, perfectly recreating Axl's cool appearance!
Accessories include four interchangeable face parts: a standard front-facing expression, a smiling face looking right, a front-facing smiling face, and a shouting face looking left. Also included are various hand gestures such as clenched fists, open hands, supporting hands, and weapon-holding hands, along with his pistol-shaped weapon, the Axl Bullet. The wings on his back, which allow for prolonged aerial suspension, also have interchangeable short-wing parts, enabling the recreation of various in-game scenarios!
The packaging features artwork drawn by Mr. Keisuke Mizuno, who is responsible for many character designs in the Mega Man X series. Purchasing this product through official designated channels such as KOTOBUKIYA SHOP will also grant a limited bonus "Illustration Acrylic Stand"!
