Mattel Creations, the online sales platform under American toy company Mattel that collaborates with fan creators, today (21st) announced another new product set to be released at the annual San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) event, held from July 24th to 25th – the "Ripster A Shark Among Us" action figure. The suggested retail price is US$40, and the product is also scheduled to be released simultaneously on the Mattel Creations official website on July 25, 2024, Pacific Time!
Street Sharks is an animated series that aired from 1994 to 1997, telling the story of four shark brothers, mutated in a laboratory, who escape and use their respective shark powers to fight crime. Street Sharks is considered a toy series inspired by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles released by Playmates Toys, and it garnered a loyal fanbase in the 90s toy market. The previous announcement of redesigned toy products to commemorate the anime's 30th anniversary sparked considerable discussion!
This particular design is based on the 20th episode of the anime, "A Shark Among Us," recreating Ripster's disguise when he infiltrated a pool hall frequented by drug dealers to investigate the new drug "Super Blue." The basic Ripster figure has been enhanced with sunglasses worn during his disguise and a leather-like fabric jacket. Accessories include his special pool cue used for playing billiards, complete with an explosive effect that can be launched from the cue's tip, faithfully reproducing every detail of the disguised look!
The inside of the packaging features a printed pool hall scene, while the exterior showcases classic Street Sharks packaging-style illustrations, bringing back the captivating charm of Street Sharks with abundant detail!
