American toy company Mattel's online sales platform, Mattel Creations, which collaborates with fan creators, has announced another upcoming Masters of the Universe-themed product for this year's annual San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) event—the "Two Bad Tuvar & Baddrah" action figure multipack. With a suggested retail price of US$50, the product is also scheduled to be released simultaneously on the Mattel Creations official website on July 25, 2024, Pacific Time!
The villainous character "Two Bad" was introduced in the classic Filmation-produced Masters of the Universe animated series as one of Skeletor's later recruits, an evil two-headed warrior. He was actually two distinct beings sharing a single body, often clashing and failing to complete missions due to their disagreements. The 2002 animated series further elaborated that they were bounty hunters who had long competed professionally. Tuvar (on the left) was more cunning and sly, while Baddrah (on the right) was more reckless. After a failed mission, as punishment, Skeletor magically fused them together, creating the new villain—Two Bad.
Since Two Bad's debut in the classic Masters of the Universe toy line in 1985, he has never been sold as separate figures. This new multipack from Mattel Creations marks the first time the two characters are separated, presenting Tuvar and Baddrah as 5.5-inch action figures in the Masters of the Universe "Origins" series, with details showcasing their individual forms before their fusion. For accessories, Baddrah's box includes the Magic Mirror from episode 127 of the classic Masters of the Universe animated series, "The Ancient Mirror of Avathar." The biggest highlight, however, is the Two Bad torso included in Tuvar's box, allowing collectors to detach and combine the arms, legs, and head sculpts of both figures to recreate the fused Two Bad form, greatly enhancing the play experience!
The inner packaging features a collector-friendly window box design, with an illustration of Skeletor casting magic printed on Tuvar's plastic window panel. When the two figures are displayed together, it recreates the scene of their merciless fusion by Skeletor! The outer box is adorned with classic Masters of the Universe comic book-style artwork depicting the two arguing. A die-cut opening in the middle reveals the combined Two Bad illustration formed by placing the two inner boxes together, a thoughtful design that significantly elevates its collectible value!
