Japan's Bandai Toys' Shokugan division, BANDAI CANDY, will release a new product in its popular "SHOKUGAN MODELING PROJECT" (SMP) assembly model series: the "Gallian Heavy Armored Kai & Iron Giant Set" from the robot anime "Armored Trooper Gallian." The suggested retail price is 4,500 JPY, available for pre-order exclusively on Premium Bandai, with an estimated release in October 2024!
"Armored Trooper Gallian," which began airing in 1984, is an SF robot TV anime produced by Japanese animation studio SUNRISE. The story tells of the night Prince Jordi of the Kingdom of Bodar was born, when the conqueror Marder attacked Bodar Castle. The king was killed, the queen captured, and the general Azbes fled with the newborn prince Jordi. Twelve years later, Jordi, now an excellent swordsman, rescues a young girl named Chillulu while searching for the legendary Iron Giant Gallian with Azbes. He discovers she is the daughter of Dartas, leader of the White Valley resistance against Marder's rule. Just as Marder is about to attack the White Valley, the Iron Giant Gallian suddenly appears, protecting everyone.
This product is an upgraded revision of the version released in 2017 under the "Super Minipla" (スーパーミニプラ/SUPERMINIPLA) series. The "Gallian Heavy Armored Kai" and "Iron Giant", which were sold separately back then, are now re-released as a two-figure set. This Metallic Color Ver. changes the main molded colors to metallic tones, creating a subtle sense of upgrade. It faithfully reproduces the design details of both mechs, enhances the durability of the elbow and knee joints, and changes the material from PS to ABS, making it easier to pose in various stances!
Furthermore, the Iron Giant's shield color is reproduced with molded colors and stickers, just like the old version. It also retains the transformation and combination functions of the previous release, allowing free transformation between "Flight Mode," the modified and enhanced "Flight Kai," and "Self-Propelled Kai" forms!
