METAL BUILD New Work "Z Gundam" Announced! Development Underway for U.C.'s Iconic Transforming Mobile Suit!

TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., today officially announced that the latest work in their popular alloy toy series『METAL BUILD』, the「Z Gundam」from the upcoming 40th-anniversary anime "Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam," is currently under development. The release date is yet to be determined.

TheMSZ-006 Z Gundamis a next-generation transformable MS developed by the AEUG after acquiring the Titans' new mobile suit "RX-178 Gundam MK-II" and utilizing its movable frame technology. It features highly rigid and lightweight armor made of Gundarium γ alloy and is equipped with a rich arsenal including a beam rifle, beam saber, and a grenade launcher with multiple warhead types. It also incorporates a simplified psycho-communicator, the "Bio-Sensor," which allows Newtype pilots to enhance the mobile suit's performance through their brainwaves. When fully activated, it can generate incredible powers such as strengthening beam weapons, forming shields, and even stopping enemy mobile suits from functioning.

Currently, only a preview of the upper body of the prototype for the「METAL BUILD Z Gundam」has been revealed, showcasing its sharp and refined design along with a heavy, metallic paint finish. The latest prototype is expected to be unveiled for the first time at the series' special exhibition,『METAL BUILD FESTIVAL 2024 WITH CLUB TAMASHII MEMBERS』, held on July 5th this year. Transformable mobile suits of this kind are extremely rare in the METAL BUILD line, and the Z Gundam marks the series' first release of a mobile suit with such a complex transformation mechanism. We can anticipate how the product will handle this distinctive feature.
