Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Collectors Division TAMASHII NATIONS's action figure brand S.H.Figuarts today (03) announced the commercialization of the two main characters from the popular manga "Dandadan", which is soon to be animated—"Momo Ayase" and "Okarun (Transformed State)"!
"Dandadan" is a shonen manga by Japanese manga artist Yukinobu Tatsu, serialized on Shueisha's "Shonen Jump+" since 2021. The story follows Momo Ayase, a female protagonist who firmly believes in supernatural phenomena but not aliens, and Ken Takakura, a male protagonist who firmly believes in aliens but not supernatural phenomena. To prove their beliefs to each other, they each venture to designated spooky locations. Both unexpectedly make astonishing discoveries, embarking on an extraordinary life filled with various occult and supernatural events. "Dandadan" also announced its anime adaptation last November, with Science SARU handling the animation production and Kensuke Ushio composing the music. It is scheduled to premiere in October 2024!
In the manga, Momo, displeased that Takakura shares a name with her favorite idol and that Takakura likes occult things, refers to him as "Okarun". From the current product images, it appears the first wave of products will feature Momo in her school uniform and Okarun in his transformed state using the powers of the Turbo Granny. Detailed sales information will be announced later, which is highly anticipated!
