GOOD SMILE COMPANY's mechanical-themed brand MECHA SMILE has officially announced today that the latest product in their completed transformable/combinable toy series 'THE GATTAI', 'Granbird' from 'The Brave Fighter of Sun Fighbird', is scheduled for release in June 2025.
The Fire Shuttle was originally another extra-atmospheric rescue transport developed by the Amano Peace Science Institute. However, due to the extensive damage sustained by the Fire Jet / Fighbird in battle and the urgent need for combat power, the Fire Shuttle was infused with cosmic energy and transformed into a transformable robot. When combined with the 'Jet Changer', it forms 'Jet Gattai Granbird'. After Fighbird's repair, the two machines can further combine to form the strongest combined form, 'Great Fighbird'.
'THE GATTAI Granbird' includes the Fire Shuttle main body, the Jet Changer, and a wealth of related weapon accessories. In Fire Shuttle mode, the internal landing gear can be deployed from beneath the fuselage, allowing for gliding functionality. Additionally, the product features an original mechanism that allows it to combine with the 'Jet Changer' into an armed form. A mini-figure of the protagonist, Yutaro Hoshino (Fighbird's android form), can be placed in the cockpit.
The Fire Shuttle can also 'fully transform' into its robot form, 'Granbird', without any leftover parts. It faithfully recreates the mechanism where Yutaro Hoshino's android form combines as a core into the left chest. Furthermore, the shuttle nose sections on both sides of the legs can be replaced with alternative parts to achieve a more anime-accurate proportion.
When combined with the 'Jet Changer' in this form, it recreates the approximately 25 cm tall 'Jet Gattai Granbird'. The entire figure features flexible articulated joints. The Granbird Rocket Missiles mounted on the back can be deployed forward or stored on the back via an articulation mechanism. Paired with the 'Granbird Cannon', formed by combining two parts, and interchangeable hand parts, you can recreate its combat poses from the show.
Furthermore, the product also conceals a further combination mechanism, allowing it to fully transform and combine with the separately sold 'THE GATTAI Fighbird'. Utilizing precise transformation and combination mechanisms, they form the upper and lower halves, recreating the approximately 32 cm tall ultimate combination, 'Great Fighbird'! In addition to a dedicated version of the signature weapon, the 'Flame Sword', which prioritizes cool proportions, by combining extra handles, sword blades, and other parts with the Fire Jet and Jet Changer, you can complete different proportioned Flame Swords and the toy-original equipment, the 'Flame Shield'!
