The popular assembly model candy toy series "SHOKUGAN MODELING PROJECT" (SMP), launched by Japan's Bandai Toys' candy toy division BANDAI CANDY, will release an assembly model product of the protagonist robot "Daimos" (ダイモス) from the classic robot anime "Tōshō Daimos" (闘将ダイモス) in November 2024. The regular edition will be priced at 8,100 JPY (excluding tax). The limited edition will be priced at 10,900 JPY (excluding tax).
"Tōshō Daimos" (闘将ダイモス) is a robot anime series that began airing on TV Asahi in 1978. This work was planned by Toei TV Production and actually produced by Sunrise. The story follows the protagonist Kazuya Ryūzaki, a master of karate, who by chance pilots the giant robot "Daimos," developed by his father Isamu Ryūzaki, to repel the invading Mecha Warriors (メカ戦士) of the Baam (バーム) aliens. He later encounters Erika (エリカ), a girl who lost her memory due to the war. As their feelings for each other grow, they must face enemy attacks and uncover the truth behind the conspiracy, thus beginning the story.
▼ "Tōshō Daimos" (闘将ダイモス) Anime OP:
This SMP Daimos stands approximately 178mm tall, faithfully recreating its appearance from the original work. Daimos in the anime possesses the ability to transform, and this product also recreates its transformation from a Tranzor (トランザー) (container truck) into a robot, allowing players to reproduce both states. In the original work, because Daimos is piloted by the karate master protagonist Kazuya Ryūzaki, it features many martial arts moves. Through the SMP's articulated joints, various moves from the original work, such as the "Lethal Reppū Daimo Kick" (必殺烈風ダイモキック), can be posed. Coupled with interchangeable hand parts and weapons, the overall atmosphere is quite excellent.
In addition to the regular edition, a "Battle Turn Set" limited edition will be exclusively available on the Premium Bandai online store. This limited edition includes many additional weapons from the original work, such as the Sanryūkon, Five Shooter (ファイブシューター), and more. It also comes with interchangeable chest parts for firing the Double Blizzard, allowing players to choose between two firing states for the flame blizzard. Furthermore, it includes the small car Drive 75S from its original launch, the support fighter "Galver FXII," and name logo stickers that can be affixed to the abdomen, making it a very rich limited edition.
