The popular soft vinyl toy 'MOVIE MONSTER' series, released by Bandai Co., Ltd. of Japan, today announced the latest product from 'Godzilla: Final Wars', 'Zilla (2004)', scheduled for release in July 2024. This item will be exclusively sold at the official GODZILLA STORE.
In the 1998 TriStar Pictures remake, 'Godzilla', Godzilla was re-envisioned, differing from Toho's Japanese version as a monster king that breathes atomic heat rays and is impervious to weaponry. Instead, it was re-imagined as a marine iguana that mutated after a nuclear experiment, becoming a giant lizard, approximately 90 meters long, that wreaked havoc in New York, known as 'Godzilla'. However, this Godzilla was too realistic, agile, flexible, and fond of eating fish, completely lacking the ability to breathe heat rays, and was killed directly after being hit by a few missiles. Later, in Toho's 'Godzilla: Final Wars' film, a very similar 'Strong-Footed Monster' appeared and was specifically renamed 'Zilla' to differentiate it, but it was instantly defeated by the original Godzilla in the movie.
The 'MOVIE MONSTER Zilla (2004)' utilizes PVC soft vinyl material to recreate the large lizard image characteristic of the TriStar version. Measuring 26 cm in total length, it features a lizard-like crouching body and a slender tail. The dorsal fins are painted with metallic blue, giving the overall design an exceptionally charming appearance.
