Following the "Asra Ninja Modeler's Edition 2/1 Scale Figure," Japanese model manufacturer Kotobukiya has once again announced the latest scale figure product based on their original plastic model kit series "Megami Device": the "Asra Archer Modeler's Edition 2/1 Scale Figure," slated for release in December 2024.
The "Asra" series of units in "Megami Device" are designed by the renowned Japanese illustrator Nidy-2D-. The initially released Ninja and Archer models feature armor designed with red and white color schemes, combined with the Japanese-style professions of ninja and archer, integrating traditional weapons such as bows, Japanese swords, shurikens, and wakizashis with mechanical structures. The voluptuous and alluring body sculpt is also one of the reasons for its popularity, with various derivative and enhanced versions released subsequently.
The "Asra Archer Modeler's Edition 2/1 Scale Figure" is a modified version based on the previously released standard edition. It is an unassembled, unpainted model kit specifically designed for modelers with assembly and painting skills, hence its price is more affordable than the pre-painted standard edition. The kit includes approximately 220 parts and dedicated water-slide decals. The two interchangeable face parts come in both pre-painted and unpainted versions (the head does not include magnets).
The overall sculpt is identical to the standard edition, redesigned as a non-articulated finished model based on Nidy-2D-'s illustrations. Compared to the plastic model kit version, its height ratio is doubled and its volume is increased by eight times, resulting in a large size of approximately 36 cm tall. It thoroughly reproduces the voluptuous bust and hip curves, while also featuring richer mechanical detailing. By using interchangeable parts and the included plush display cloth, it's possible to recreate a pose where some armor is removed, resembling a life-sized body pillow.
