In March of this year, renowned American toy company Mattel announced the exciting news that, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its highly acclaimed 90s toy series animation "Street Sharks," it would be redesigning and re-releasing 6 classic Street Sharks toys! Following the first wave release of Ripster, Jab, and Slammu, information regarding the sale of the other three figures—"Streex," "Big Slammu," and "Dr. Piranoid"—has recently been officially revealed, with a suggested retail price of US$24.99 per figure, slated for release in August 2024!
"Street Sharks" is an animated series that aired from 1994 to 1997, telling the story of four shark brothers, transformed in a laboratory, who escape and use their respective shark powers to fight crime. Street Sharks is considered a toy series inspired by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles launched by Playmates Toys, and it garnered a loyal fanbase in the 90s toy market, remaining a highly sought-after item in the secondary toy market even today!
This second wave introduces the remaining two shark brothers, "Streex" and "Big Slammu," along with the mastermind behind the Street Sharks' transformation from humans into sharks, "Dr. Piranoid." Their designs all reference the original 1994 toys, with Streex's rollerblades and Big Slammu's baseball pants, among other features, being faithfully retained and repainted with more vibrant colors. Furthermore, the toys' classic play features—Streex's forward gliding, Big Slammu's power punch, and Dr. Piranoid's face-changing function—have all been preserved, bringing collectors back to the excitement of the sharks' debut in 1994!
