Japanese model manufacturer Kotobukiya (KOTOBUKIYA) at this year's "62nd All Japan Model & Hobby Show," for the first time, exhibited the developing prototype of its latest work based on the Japanese monster film "Godzilla" series, the "Godzilla (1989) Static Model Kit". Release date is TBD.

The Godzilla (1989), now being released as an assembly model kit, appeared in "Godzilla vs. Biollante." In terms of its setting, it is the same individual Godzilla that appeared in the previous film (1984), having been artificially lured into the crater of Mount Mihara to slumber. However, five years later, both the American corporate conglomerate "Bio-Major" and the Saradian Republic's intelligence agency coveted the anti-Godzilla biological weapon "Anti-Nuclear Energy Bacteria (ANEB)" developed by the Japanese government using G-cells. Conflicts during negotiations led to the eruption of the volcano, causing Godzilla to reawaken.

The "Godzilla (1989) Static Model Kit" faithfully reproduces the character's silhouette based on its in-film appearance. Details such as the forward tilt of the neck, the curve of the swinging tail, and the dense, rough skin textures across the entire body have been meticulously refined by repeatedly referencing scenes from the film. The prototype currently on display showcases exceptional resolution in its sculpted details, and we eagerly anticipate that the final product, utilizing injection-molded parts, will retain this outstanding sculpt.
