Japanese toy brand Max Factory's model kit brand "PLAMAX" will release a 1/72 scale model kit of the protagonist mecha "Dragonar-1" (ドラグナー１) from the classic 80s robot anime series "Metal Armor Dragonar" (機甲戦記ドラグナー)! It is scheduled for release in August 2025, priced at 9,800 JPY.
"Metal Armor Dragonar" (機甲戦記ドラグナー) is a 48-episode TV robot anime produced by Sunrise from 1987 to 1988. The story follows Ken Wakaba, the protagonist who inadvertently obtains a Dragonar, along with his companions Tapp and Light. After their home colony is destroyed by the "Giganos Empire" (ギガノス帝国), which established its regime on the moon and launched a war against the Earth Federation, the trio begins their fight against the Giganos Empire aboard the Dragonars.
The "Dragonar-1" model kit released by PLAMAX this time is produced in 1/72 scale, standing approximately 24.5 cm tall. Its design primarily references the "MAX Alloy Dragonar-1" previously released in 2010. It features multi-color molded parts and includes water-slide decals to faithfully reproduce intricate details. Other accessories such as various weapons like a rifle, laser sword, knife, bombs, and a shield are all included, along with a dedicated display stand. The overall content is exceptionally rich.
