Today, the Bandai Namco Group officially unveiled the 17-meter-tall "RX-78F00/E Gundam Life-Sized Statue" located next to the "GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE PAVILION" exhibition hall at the 2025 Japan International Exposition (Osaka-Kansai Expo). The topping-out ceremony was completed earlier. Concurrently, its toy company BANDAI SPIRITS announced that it will release multiple model products based on this statue, including Gunpla, Chogokin, and ROBOT SPIRITS. Detailed product information will be revealed at a later date.
The exhibition hall "GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE PAVILION," established by the Bandai Namco Group, is designed with the image of a "future spaceport." It showcases the worldview of the "Mobile Suit Gundam" series, where humanity has extended its living sphere into space, allowing visitors to experience a future world where humans can easily reach space stations via orbital elevators, coexist with Mobile Suits, and where living in space has become commonplace.
The "RX-78F00/E Gundam Life-Sized Statue" standing next to the exhibition hall is a modification of the previous life-sized movable Gundam from "GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA." It has been redesigned into a non-articulated, high-kneeling pose looking up at the cosmos. The left shoulder armor and skirt armor have been replaced with a new design resembling solar panels or LED lights. When night falls, a special performance will take place with accompanying lighting and smoke effects. The design significance or special functions of the armor will be announced at a later date.
Since even the life-sized statue is being repurposed, the core business of model products will certainly not be absent. This time, the "RX-78F00/E Gundam Life-Sized Statue" will also see multiple products released by BANDAI SPIRITS, including assembly models, Chogokin models, and ROBOT SPIRITS articulated finished products. Among these, the Chogokin and ROBOT SPIRITS versions will be showcased first at "TAMASHII NATION 2024" on November 15th, and it is expected that new parts will be used to reproduce the new design of the left half of the armor.
