Japan's Megahouse toy company, under its "LOOK UP" series which produces chibi character figures of numerous anime and manga characters in a looking-up pose, has simultaneously launched two new products based on the popular anime and manga "Dandadan": "Momo Ayase" and "Okarun" chibi character figures. The suggested retail price is 4,620 JPY each, and they are scheduled for release in May 2025!
"Dandadan" is a shonen manga by Japanese manga artist Yukinobu Tatsu, serialized on Shueisha's "Shonen Jump+" starting in 2021. In 2024, it was adapted into a TV anime by Science SARU. The story follows Momo Ayase, a protagonist who firmly believes in supernatural phenomena but not in aliens, and Ken Takakura, a male protagonist who firmly believes in aliens but not in supernatural phenomena. To prove each other wrong, they venture separately to designated locations to test their courage. However, both unexpectedly make astonishing discoveries, embarking on an extraordinary life filled with various occult and supernatural elements.
These two LOOK UP figures stand approximately 11 cm tall. Okarun and Momo, in their school uniform outfits, are sculpted in an adorable approximately 2.5-head-tall chibi proportion. Various character details are faithfully reproduced within the chibi specifications! For Okarun, his hair, curled by the barrier at Momo's house, is recreated, and the texture of his glasses is reproduced with clear plastic parts. For Momo, her iconic whirlwind bangs and large green earrings are faithfully reproduced. The heads of both figures feature simple articulation, allowing for slight adjustments to the direction of their gaze. Displaying them side-by-side is incredibly cute!
