The first Gunpla product from the latest 2025 Gundam series anime, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, the "HG 1/144 GQuuuuuuX", is officially set to release on January 17, 2025. BANDAI SPIRITS Company's HOBBY Division in Japan has updated the sample images just before the product's launch.
The new anime production, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, a collaboration between two major animation studios, khara from the Evangelion series and SUNRISE from the Mobile Suit Gundam series, is expected to roll out media and merchandise projects throughout 2025. This work brings together veteran staff such as Evangelion: New Theatrical Edition director Kazuya Tsurumaki, mechanical designer Ikuto Yamashita, and scriptwriters Yoji Enokido and Hideaki Anno. It also features illustrator Takeshi, known for character designs in the Pokémon series games, as the character designer. The protagonist, Machu, is voiced by the talented voice actress Tomoyo Kurosawa. This dream team not only generates significant buzz but also raises expectations for the anime's quality.
The story of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX centers on its protagonist, Yoha Amate, a high school girl living a peaceful daily life in a space colony. Feeling a sense of unreality, she one day encounters Nean, a refugee girl, and accidentally becomes the pilot of the mysterious mobile suit "GQuuuuuuX". She then gets embroiled in the illegal MS dueling competition, Battle Group Showdown. From then on, Yoha adopts the alias "Machu" and dedicates herself daily to intense battles.
The "HG 1/144 GQuuuuuuX" utilizes Bandai's latest technology to condense the complex, EVANGELION-like design by Ikuto Yamashita into the 1/144 scale. The kit employs multi-color molded parts to reproduce the various colors of the mobile suit's body as accurately as possible, and with numerous unique joint designs in the torso, hips, and limbs, the mobile suit can strike various powerful poses seen in the series.
Furthermore, the product includes a rich array of weapon accessories, such as head parts for both deployed and stored antenna states, a battle axe, a shield, a beam saber, a beam rifle... and various other unannounced armaments, allowing for customization of the GQuuuuuuX main unit.
