Get ready for a massive collaboration! Anime giants khara (of "Evangelion" fame) and SUNRISE (the masterminds behind "Mobile Suit Gundam") have teamed up to bring us the latest Gundam anime sensation for 2025: "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX." And, of course, Bandai has already dropped the news that a whole slew of merchandise is on its way.
The very first Gunpla kit, the 'HG 1/144 GQuuuuuuX,' launched just the other day (January 17) alongside the theatrical preview "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX-Beginning-," and it's been an absolute smash hit in Japan! Stores everywhere are reporting sell-outs. Loads of Japanese fans have already unboxed it, discovering that this kit boasts significantly more articulation than previous Gunpla models, making it an instant favorite for posing and play.

What's truly blowing minds about the 'HG 1/144 GQuuuuuuX' is the insane level of articulation in its hip and waist joints. We're talking about a kit that can literally fold in half! Combined with the ball joints in the hips, it can pull off virtually any leg pose imaginable, making it incredibly fun to mess around with.

Just look at how it can bend! Which other Gundam has ever been this flexible?

Beyond its incredible articulation, the GQuuuuuuX's design was handled by Ikuto Yamashita from khara, the genius behind "Evangelion: New Theatrical Edition." This has led many to point out its striking resemblance to an EVA unit. Naturally, a ton of fans got their hands on the kit and immediately started painting it in full EVA style, complete with various weapons and accessories. We're talking Unit-01, Unit-02, and even Unit-00 — people have made them all!

You can even combine it with Bandai's "30 MINUTES SISTERS" (30MS) series! It might take a bit of technical skill, but it looks like a perfect fit.

While Bandai's "mobile suit ocean" strategy has probably left many of us with a mountain of unbuilt Gunpla kits, this new 'HG 1/144 GQuuuuuuX' has definitely sparked some serious joy among Japanese hobbyists. Its incredible articulation opens up a world of posing possibilities, and even painting it offers a ton of fun. So, if you manage to snag one, go ahead and unleash your unique style!
