"The Fable: The Third Secret" Kicks Off This March, Marking the Series' Return!

Katsuhisa Minami's hit manga, "The Fable," might have wrapped up its main story and sequel, "The Fable: The Second Contact," but it's been anything but quiet! With a massively successful live-action film starring Junichi Okada and a recent TV anime adaptation, the series has been buzzing with renewed excitement.

And the buzz just got louder! Today (January 20), official sources confirmed that the third installment of "The Fable" manga, titled "The Fable: The Third Secret," is set to begin serialization in the 16th issue of "Weekly Young Magazine," hitting shelves on March 17. This marks a highly anticipated return for the series, coming a full one year and eight months after the finale of "The Fable: The Second Contact" in July 2023.

"The Fable" (ザ・ファブル) first launched in "Weekly Young Magazine" in 2014, quickly gaining critical acclaim and snagging the 41st Kodansha Manga Award in the General Category in 2017. The first part concluded in 2020, followed by its sequel, "The Fable: The Second Contact," which wrapped up in July 2023.

The story centers on Fable, a legendary assassin known for his unparalleled skill. Trained from childhood by his enigmatic Boss, Fable has completed countless impossible missions. But when his Boss orders him to lay low in Osaka for a year and attempt to live a "normal" life without killing, Fable takes on the alias Akira Sato. What follows is a uniquely hilarious and action-packed tale of an elite hitman trying (and often failing) to blend into everyday society.

"The Fable: The Third Secret" picks up roughly two years after the events of "The Fable: The Second Contact." Our invincible protagonist, Akira Sato, is about to face a brand-new "secret." What formidable foes will emerge this time? And how will Akira's life take another dramatic turn? All will be revealed when "Weekly Young Magazine" hits stands on March 17!

While "The Fable" might not be a household name for everyone (and its anime adaptation was arguably underrated due to streaming platform restrictions), this editor can't recommend it enough! Katsuhisa Minami's masterful paneling and incredible narrative tension have earned him a dedicated fanbase. Now, with the long-awaited third series kicking off, we can't wait to see what new adventures await!
