Released by the HOBBY Division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., the Gunpla "RG (Real Grade)" series, which incorporates exterior armor, internal frames, interlocking armor, and new technologies into the 1/144 scale, today officially announced the latest product from the theatrical anime film "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM": the "RG 1/144 Sword Impulse Gundam SpecII", slated for release in March 2025.
The ZGMF-56E2 Impulse Gundam SpecII is a new mobile suit secretly recovered by the Eternal after being severely damaged in the previous war, then repaired and improved by Morgenroete with the latest technology. After replacing its energy systems with new batteries, the color of its VPS armor becomes deeper when activated. It can also be wirelessly charged by the Hyper Duetrion Beam Supply System emitted from the Destiny Gundam SpecII. Its other armaments remain largely unchanged, still capable of equipping Force, Sword, and Blast Silhouette packs, and can even mount the massive external equipment "Tactical Striker M.E.T.E.O.R."
The "RG 1/144 Sword Impulse Gundam SpecII" largely retains the overall design and structure of the previously released regular Sword Impulse, featuring the RG series' characteristic high-density detailing, excellent color separation and part division, and a rich variety of marking stickers. It also faithfully recreates the separation and combination mechanisms of the four components: Chest Flyer, Leg Flyer, Core Splendor, and Sword Silhouette pack. The key difference lies in the molded color of all armor parts being replaced with a red and black scheme, reproducing the deep VPS armor colors characteristic of SpecII.
Its armaments include a high-energy beam rifle, a mobile shield in deployed state, two "Excalibur" laser anti-ship swords, "Flash-Edge" beam boomerangs, a folding anti-armor knife, and the newly added prototype 35-kai railgun for the theatrical version. The two anti-ship swords can be connected to form a twin-bladed giant sword mode, and various beam effects can be used to recreate attack scenes for the blades and boomerangs!
