Japanese model company KAIYODO's high-quality plastic model kit series "ARTPLA SCULPTURE WORKS" is releasing a new product based on the popular anime "Neon Genesis Evangelion" – the "EVA Unit-01 Yashima Operation" model kit. The suggested retail price is 8,800 JPY, and it is scheduled for release in late May 2025!
The "Yashima Operation" (ヤシマ作戦) is a segment from episode six of the TV anime, "Decisive Battle in Tokyo-3," a plan devised by Misato to counterattack the Fifth Angel (Sixth Angel in the New Theatrical Edition). It involves EVA Unit-01 and EVA Unit-00 cooperating from the summit of Mt. Futago to snipe the Angel with NERV's secretly developed high-power Positron Cannon.
This ARTPLA "EVA Unit-01 Yashima Operation" model has a completed length of approximately 36 cm. It brings to life the Yashima Operation scene as reinterpreted in "Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone." It utilizes the hand-sculpted prototype design unveiled by renowned sculptor TANI AKIRA in 2016, re-outputted with 3D scan data capture, faithfully recreating EVA Unit-01's intricate dynamic squatting pose for firing, and meticulously showcasing the design details of the Positron Cannon and the main body! The model's main body is molded in bright gray, and it comes with decals for the symbols on its body, allowing all toy enthusiasts to showcase their skills and paint EVA Unit-01 in its powerful stance on Mt. Futago in their own style!
