Mike Flanagan, the director of "Doctor Sleep" and arguably one of Stephen King's biggest modern-day fans, announced three years ago his ambitious plan to reboot King's "The Dark Tower" series. The vision included a five-season television series complemented by two standalone films.
While updates have been scarce over the past three years, King recently confirmed that the project is still moving forward, and he is actively involved in its development.

During a recent interview with IGN to promote his new film, "Stephen King's The Monkey," King was asked about his interest in writing for the new "Dark Tower" series and films. Given that he previously penned an episode for the 2020 "The Stand" miniseries—both stories featuring the enigmatic Randall Flagg—IGN was curious if King would also contribute to "The Dark Tower" adaptation. King responded, "I can tell you that I am involved. I'm writing some things, but I don't want to say more than that because it starts to get into a discussion that I don't necessarily want to get into at this point. But I am writing some things, and I'm afraid if I say too much, I'll jinx it."
