Los Angeles Dodgers' baseball superstar Shohei Ohtani is a global media magnet. With the new MLB season kicking off and his continuous history-making performances, it's no surprise to see a flood of commercial collaborations.
Now, Epic Games' online hit "Fortnite" is teaming up with Shohei Ohtani for an epic crossover! Players can look forward to a whole lineup of skins, and get this – even Ohtani's beloved dog, Decoy, is joining the game. Talk about a curveball!
"Fortnite" is no stranger to massive collaborations, having previously partnered with game developers, anime, and movies worldwide. This isn't their first rodeo in the sports arena either; they've previously featured NBA superstar LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers with multiple in-game styles.
This collaboration focuses on cosmetic items, featuring Shohei Ohtani in his white home uniform, gray away uniform, a LEGO style, and a samurai outfit. But wait, there's more! His adorable dog, Decoy, is also getting in on the action, appearing as a bobblehead-style back bling, playfully tossing a ball.
The collaboration content officially drops on March 18th. To celebrate the MLB Tokyo Opening Series on March 18th-19th, "Fortnite" is also rolling out a special "Samurai Shohei" outfit! This unique style comes with a "Burning Right Arm" effect, where Ohtani's right arm bursts into flames after players eliminate an opponent in-game. Want to snag "Samurai Shohei" early? Players can compete in the "Shohei Ohtani Cup," a solo Battle Royale tournament, where top-ranked players in each region can unlock this limited-edition outfit ahead of time!
