Renowned poster design and toy company MONDO is once again releasing a "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" themed soft vinyl toy – "Super Shredder," with a suggested retail price of US$150. Pre-orders will open on the MONDO Shop official website at 12:00 PM CT on March 20, 2025, with an estimated shipping date of September 2025!
Shredder first appeared alongside the Turtle brothers in the very first independently published "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" comic by the Turtle Dads. His design was inspired by a trapezoidal cheese grater, hence the name "Shredder." The initial concept didn't actually intend for Shredder to be the Turtles' long-term main antagonist; it was due to the unprecedented success of the 1987 animated TV series that most subsequent spin-offs adopted this setting.
This Super Shredder soft vinyl toy once again features concept design by renowned toy designer and artist James Groman. Its impressive size reaches 31.3 cm, far exceeding all previous characters in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles soft vinyl series. It presents Shredder's immensely powerful form after using the mutagenic ooze in a unique style, with muscles that look as if they're about to burst at any moment, and silver armor that appears even more ferocious, making him seem incredibly unapproachable!
The sculpting faithfully recreates the bulging veins of the muscles and the intricate folds of the clothing, with details like cracks on the armor also exquisitely reproduced! For the paint application, spray painting deepens the shadows, making the overall light and shadow contrast more pronounced. The texture of the armor is also restored through metallic silver paint. Furthermore, the deep red pupils and bloodshot whites of the eyes are meticulously recreated, making him look as if he's about to go berserk at any moment! The accessories also include green fireball effect parts, a mace, a mutagenic ooze canister, and a cute little turtle for display, and can even be played with alongside the previously released four Turtles and other Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series characters!
