Matsuya "Takes Over" Matsuya?! Domino's Delivery Goes Wild? April Fools' Pranks from Japanese Brands Go Viral!

Every April 1st, brands flex their creative muscles, dropping hilarious April Fools' Day posts that get everyone chuckling. This year, Japanese gyudon giant Matsuya absolutely dominated X (formerly Twitter) with its "Matsuya Takes Over Matsuya Ginza" stunt, leaving netizens in stitches and exclaiming, "This is hilarious!"

Matsuya's official account dropped a bombshell that day: "To everyone at Matsuya Ginza, we humbly report that we have successfully taken over your establishment today." The post came complete with a doctored image showing the iconic Matsuya Ginza department store's rooftop sign replaced by the Matsuya beef bowl logo, making it look like the restaurant chain had genuinely "invaded" the famous Ginza landmark.

This post was actually a quote-tweet of Matsuya Ginza's official account (@MATSUYAGINZA100). The hilarious back-and-forth between the two accounts had fans flooding the comments section: "That hashtag (#行けばわかるさ / #ComeAndSeeForYourself) is genius!" "Even knowing it's fake, I still wanna go check it out (lol)." "Full marks for this move!"

And get this: Matsuya had already dropped a hint on March 27th with a post saying, "Matsuya's daily life. I tell my friends 'I work at Matsuya!' and they always mistake it for the department store (Matsuya Ginza)." Looking back, that was probably the ultimate April Fools' foreshadowing!

But Matsuya wasn't the only one playing pranks! Plenty of other brands also unleashed their creative posts on April Fools' Day, including: Mos Burger announcing a "non-existent game"

Lotte Yukimi Daifuku's "collaboration with Cow Brand Soap"

Domino's Pizza's over-the-top announcement of "global pizza delivery service activated!"... and more.

These wild, out-of-the-box ideas not only had fans cracking up but also showcased the brands' killer sense of humor, turning April Fools' Day into a hilarious social media showdown!
