Hold up, gamers! FromSoftware just dropped a bombshell at the tail end of the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, revealing an all-new action title, "The Duskbloods." This dark, blood-soaked combat game is slated to hit Nintendo's next-gen console, the Switch 2, as an exclusive in 2026. And yeah, "Bloodborne" fans are already buzzing.

According to the official intel, players will step into the boots of "Bloodsworn," a cadre of warriors who've tapped into extraordinary power through a special kind of blood. Their mission? To duke it out on brutal battlefields, all vying for the coveted status of "First Blood." But here's the twist: unlike FromSoftware's usual single-player RPG epics, "The Duskbloods" is built around a core PvPvE multiplayer experience, supporting up to eight players in a single match.
The reveal trailer showcased a slew of intensely oppressive enemies and battlegrounds dripping with gothic horror vibes. While FromSoftware didn't explicitly utter the name "Bloodborne," the game's visual design, its blend of firearms and melee combat, and a narrative deeply entwined with "blood" have players drawing undeniable parallels.

Naturally, the announcement sent "Bloodborne" fans into a frenzy across social media, with many declaring "The Duskbloods" to be "Bloodborne 2" in all but name. Over on Reddit's "r/Bloodborne" discussion thread Reddit, one player quipped, "This game is literally Bloodborne 2, they just changed the name." Another chimed in, "Did Nintendo just get tired of waiting and decided to make their own Bloodborne sequel?"
However, the initial hype train hit a snag for some when it became clear that "The Duskbloods" is a PvPvE multiplayer-focused game, not a traditional single-player RPG. A segment of the fanbase started to cool off, with some expressing that their excitement waned after learning about the multiplayer mode and the Switch 2 exclusivity, making them reconsider a purchase.

FromSoftware is still keeping many details under wraps for now, but they've confirmed that more information will drop on April 4, 2025. That's when Nintendo plans to release an exclusive interview with director Hidetaka Miyazaki, who will delve deeper into "The Duskbloods'" gameplay mechanics, how the PvPvE mode will function, and whether this new title can truly capture the spirit of "Bloodborne."
