Former Hololive VTuber Rushia's Artist Frustrated Over Work Becoming Memes and Argument Fodder: "I Lost Jobs Because of It..."

Back in early 2022, Cover Corporation, the agency behind VTuber group Hololive, dropped a bombshell: they terminated the contract of third-generation talent Uruha Rushia due to leaked company information and other reasons. Three years on, Rushia's image still pops up online as a meme or argument fodder, with some netizens even dubbing her a "Special Grade Cursed Object."

Recently, Yasuyuki (@yasu00kamiki), the artist responsible for Uruha Rushia's character design, took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to vent his frustration. He's fed up with his artwork constantly being used for memes and arguments, a situation that's been going on for quite some time, drawing comfort from his many supporters.

Yasuyuki posted, "Why do people always use my drawings for arguments, meme templates, and actual memes...? I've genuinely lost commissions and had jobs cut because of it."

It's clear that this situation has indeed impacted his work, especially since he was already a highly popular artist.

Many of Yasuyuki's supporters believe this whole mess isn't his fault; it's the result of his collaborators (or as VTubers often say, the "mama" artist's talent). They feel he's just caught in the crossfire and can't control it, wishing him to stay strong since his art style remains incredibly popular.

However, some netizens pointed out that after Uruha Rushia's termination, another VTuber he subsequently worked with, Mikoneko, also ran into trouble and even got into arguments with fans. They suggest Yasuyuki needs to be more careful about who he collaborates with, rather than viewing himself as merely "caught in controversy," especially since this isn't the first time.

Yasuyuki also designs for other VTubers, like Varium's Komainu Ume, who hasn't had any such issues. This really goes to show the importance of choosing collaborators wisely.

His supporters can only offer comfort and advise Yasuyuki to be more discerning with future collaborations. As for these uncontrollable controversies, all he can do is focus on honing his craft as an artist.
