Kotobukiya, a Japanese model manufacturer, has announced that the latest product in its popular 'Megami Device' series of mecha girl plastic model kits, the 'PUNI☆MOFU Black Mao', is scheduled for release in September 2025.
The 'PUNI☆MOFU Black Mao', with character designs by Japanese illustrator BLADE, is an alternate color version of the 'PUNI☆MOFU Nekomao'. Aside from the unit's color scheme, weapon names, and the expressions of the four cat-type AIs on its body, the Black Mao's performance and stats are identical to the Nekomao.
The 'Megami Device PUNI☆MOFU Black Mao' is based on a modified kit of the 'PUNI☆MOFU Nekomao', recreating BLADE's design by adjusting the molding colors of various parts. The arm and leg parts this time also use 'Skin Color A' molding, presenting a bare body that resembles a swimsuit. The pre-painted face parts have been replaced with three newly drawn expressions by BLADE, and the cat-type AIs on various parts of the body also utilize new parts to recreate adorable '（＞ヮ＜）' expressions.
The new low-height body 'Machineca Block2-S', designed by sculptor Masaki Apsy, features the same latest articulation design as the M-type. When completed, it stands approximately 13.5 cm tall, boasting a petite yet voluptuous physique, capable of striking various cute poses with multiple interchangeable hand parts. The abdomen can be replaced with either black or skin-colored parts, and the included decals can be used to recreate the 'NYAN' lettering on the abdomen.
By equipping the full body armor and the weapon 'Dark Paw Hammer', the Armed Mode can be recreated. With an articulated stand, dynamic and adorable hammer-swinging poses can be achieved. As per the setting, the hammerhead parts can also be disassembled and equipped to both hands to switch to the speed-focused 'Super Black Mao Punch' mode. Furthermore, all parts feature 3mm diameter joint holes, allowing for creative freedom in swapping and assembling parts, or customizing with other Kotobukiya plastic model kits such as 'Megami Device', 'Frame Arms Girl', 'Sousai Shojo Teien', and more.
