Japanese gashapon manufacturer Kitan Club (キタンクラブ) is releasing a rather interesting capsule toy product – the "Grandma's Japanese-style Room Ceiling Light." The suggested retail price is 500 JPY per turn, with an anticipated release in late April 2025!

These Japanese-style room ceiling lights, featuring circular fluorescent tubes, were extremely popular from the Showa to early Heisei periods. They were a common household appliance in many Japanese homes, affectionately nicknamed "Grandma's light." We believe many toy enthusiasts have seen them in Japanese dramas or anime, and perhaps even have one in their own Japanese-style room! This "Grandma's Japanese-style Room Ceiling Light" transforms such a ceiling light into a model charm approximately 4.4 cm in size, faithfully recreating the classic Japanese aesthetic. It can be lit by pulling a string, then switched to night light mode with another pull, and turned off with a third pull. It comes in four styles: Natural, Beige, Brown, and Black, making it super eye-catching when hung on a bag!
