Known for crafting stage earphones for musicians, FitEar, a brand from Suyama Hearing Aid Co., started by helping those with hearing impairments. They then channeled that expertise into creating ultra-high-quality monitoring earphones, earning a massive following among Japanese artists and singers for their extensive customization options.
Today, they've announced an epic collaboration with the iconic "Mobile Suit Gundam" for its 45th anniversary, unleashing the custom "K SERIES GUNDAM" earphones! This lineup boasts 3 models, 5 specifications, and a whopping 14 exterior designs, starting from 104,500 JPY (some styles require an additional ear impression fee). Pre-orders kicked off yesterday (April 25) on ONKYO DIRECT.
The mobile suit designs include:
Earth Federation Forces (4 types): Original Gundam (2 designs), Guncannon, Guntank
Principality of Zeon (10 types): Char's Zaku II (2 designs), Char's Z'Gok, Char's Gelgoog, Zaku II, Dom, Gouf, Gyan, Big-Zam, Zeong.
The right ear shell features a fixed design for each faction, while the left ear can be freely chosen from either Earth Federation or Zeon designs.
The three earphone models are:
K1 Series: Equipped with FitEar and ONKYO's co-developed magnesium alloy diaphragm BA driver.
K2 Series: Builds on the K1 with an added tweeter.
K3 Series: A high-end collaboration model based on FitEar's classic MH334.
The K1 and K2 series also offer "semi-custom" versions, meaning no ear impressions are needed – just pick the right ear tips and you're good to go!
The sales packages come in various forms, like bundled sets. The IE-K1 or IE-K2 SETs include a dedicated carrying case, FitEar's original upgrade cables, a cleaning brush, and an earphone clip.
For the ultimate experience, the top-tier IE-K3 SET not only includes everything from the IE-K1 or IE-K2 SETs but also comes with a special "Pelican 1010 Hard Case" for storage. Plus, you get to choose a corresponding faction's mobile suit acrylic earphone display stand and a three-year warranty!
