Recall that we previously reported on veteran manga artist Kei Kusunoki (@keikusunoki), who revealed her husband had been cheating for over a decade. She wryly wondered if she could turn it into an "NTR" (Netorare) manga, instantly grabbing netizens' attention.
Now, on April 29, Kusunoki announced on her personal X account that her new self-penned and illustrated work, "The Betrayed Manga Artist's Husband-Purging War Chronicle" (サレ妻漫画家の旦捨離戦記), which delves into her real-life marital betrayal and inner turmoil, is set to launch on Kindle on May 2. Fans and netizens immediately took notice – who knew she'd actually put pen to paper just over a month later?

Kusunoki shared that her manga, exposing her marital infidelity, is officially launching! She admitted, "Even though the editorial department insisted on adding the word 'War Chronicle,' I really don't want to be called a 'betrayed wife manga artist'... But I truly want everyone to know about this. This work is a true story, something I experienced, and I can't pretend it didn't happen."
"This isn't for sympathy; it's purely a record of those heartbreaking facts. I hope my ex-husband and his friends see this and understand how much they messed up my life. And of course, the mistress who only sees herself as a victim should see it too."
Kei Kusunoki's twin sister, fellow manga artist Kaoru Ohashi, also posted a wave of support, exclaiming, "Finally! I hope this work really gets to that scumbag who even roped in his parents, shows zero remorse, and still whistles while hanging out with friends. And I hope that jerk who dared to joke about remarrying my sister finally realizes exactly why he got divorced!"

After the news broke, many netizens expressed their support and anticipation. One user, who had a similar experience, commented, "The ones who play the victim most often are the perpetrators." Others felt, "Such an authentic work is a crucial step towards self-healing."
What's more, many netizens are calling for a physical book release, believing the work is worth collecting. Some fans even joked, "I hope it gets adapted into a Japanese drama, starring Yumi Adachi!"

Netizens also pointed out that Kei Kusunoki was known early in her career for her delicate yet rapid drawing techniques. This new work reportedly maintains that same high level of completion, moving long-time fans.
Of course, Kei Kusunoki and her twin sister, Kaoru Ohashi, are practically legends in the manga world.
Not only do they have numerous animated adaptations, but their work spans genres from shonen and shojo to comedy, horror, and essays. They even released CDs and worked as singers! Who would've thought they'd tackle an ex-husband's infidelity next? Their versatility is truly incredible. Here's hoping the sensei keeps pushing forward!

Currently, "The Betrayed Manga Artist's Husband-Purging War Chronicle" is only announced for Kindle. There's no further word yet on a potential physical release.
Still, the ability to calmly turn her own story into a manga has instantly made this work a hot topic. We can definitely look forward to seeing how Kei Kusunoki interprets the full scope of her true story.
