Gunpla enthusiasts know the drill – painting, cutting, weathering, or even full-blown themed customizations are all part of making your model truly unique.
We've previously featured Chinese modeler RAY Studio, known for their incredible 3D work on the Red Z'Gok from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM." Recently, they dropped a new creation on X that's absolutely blowing minds: a hand-drawn illustration of the original Gundam that *instantly* transforms into a Gunpla model with the exact same anime-style aesthetic! Netizens are freaking out, asking, "Is that really a Gunpla model!?" because this level of skill is just next-level.
Check out the video first. You'll see the artist expertly sketching, inking, and coloring the original Gundam, bringing a stunning illustration to life. But then, in a blink, he lifts the drawing to reveal a Gunpla model that looks *exactly* like the illustration! It's pure magic.

The base model is the EG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam, a budget-friendly, easy-to-assemble kit designed for beginners. But with RAY Studio's meticulous painting and panel lining, the model looks like it jumped straight out of an anime cel!
Placed against a plain white background, the finished piece looks exactly like a 3D animated scene. At first glance, you'd never guess it's a physical model – it's pure digital illusion!
While RAY Studio's skill is undeniable, this anime-style painting technique is something many modelers can try. You can also find tons of other awesome projects on their YouTube channel. If you're into Gunpla customization, you'll definitely want to check out their mind-blowing work!
