Today, we're shining a spotlight on Italian Gunpla YouTuber "CREMI5I," who masterfully mashed up two iconic mobile suits from different universes: Mobile Suit Gundam Wing and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM. The result? A completely new, custom Gundam that's absolutely blowing up online!
CREMI5I chose the "HGAC 1/144 Wing Gundam" (released in 2013) and the "HG 1/144 Rising Freedom Gundam" for his "mixing build," also known as "kitbashing." This technique involves freely combining parts from different model kits to create something entirely new.
The Wing Gundam serves as the main body, with parts like the head antenna, shoulders, and wings swapped out for those from the Rising Freedom Gundam. While the structural specs of the two kits aren't identical, meaning parts don't always snap right in, CREMI5I cleverly modified the joint areas to ensure a seamless fit.
But it wasn't just about swapping existing parts; some areas required a bit more DIY magic. For instance, to attach the Rising Freedom Gundam's shoulders to the Wing's chest, he designed custom connecting parts and brought them to life with a 3D printer.
Finally, a unifying paint job brought the whole vision together, giving birth to this original mobile suit that perfectly blends the best of both worlds. He even gave it an epic name: the "Rising Wing Gundam."
