Japanese brand PREMICO, known for blending high-quality timepieces and accessories with beloved anime characters, consistently drops stunning designs that fans can't resist.
Now, PREMICO is teaming up with the iconic sci-fi anime "Space Battleship Yamato" for its 50th anniversary! They're launching a collection of exquisite, artisan-crafted Edo Kiriko cut glass tumblers. Priced at 43,780 JPY each, these beauties are limited to 500 units per design and are currently available for pre-order on PREMICO's Japanese website.
First aired in 1974, "Space Battleship Yamato" is a legendary cornerstone of Japanese sci-fi anime, continuing to inspire new works even after all these years. As it celebrates its 50th anniversary, a new theatrical anime film has been announced, set to be produced by Studio Khara, founded by none other than Hideaki Anno, with production officially kicking off in 2025.
These stunning glasses are handcrafted by artisans certified by the "Edo Kiriko Cooperative," featuring intricate hand-carved designs on double-layered glass. Utilizing traditional *irokise* (colored overlay) glass techniques combined with *kiriko* cutting and sandblasting, the attention to detail and premium feel are off the charts. There are two designs, each paying homage to the classic series: one themed after the "Yamato (Red)" and the other after "Yuki Mori (Amber)."
▼ Yamato (Red)
This design draws inspiration from the intense moments when the Yamato fires its Wave Motion Gun. The outer glass features details reminiscent of the ship's bridge instrumentation, while the base is engraved with the iconic Yamato anchor symbol and a unique limited-edition serial number.
▼ Yuki Mori (Amber)
The Yuki Mori glass celebrates the beloved heroine, featuring her portrait and snowflake motifs on the front. The back showcases her silhouette alongside crystal-like snow patterns that symbolize her name. The base is intricately detailed with the "Analyzer Robot" and "Space Radar" from the anime.
Each purchase also includes a luxurious paulownia wood box for storage, complete with the series logo.
